Cashism

The other night I was reading Cash's Bible story to him he stopped me to ask a question.  I was reading the story of Adam and Eve and Cash wanted to know; "Mama why did God tell Adam and Even not to eat that apple?  Apples are good for you."  hmmm.... He listens and he absorbs, this is good!!  :)

DHS....

It is certainly Monday around here!! I called DHS today and reported myself, I am hoping they come for the children in the morning. :-)  LOL!!

Okay in all seriousness, I am reading an amazing book called "Out of the Spin Cycle" by Jen Hatmaker.  She is hilariously raw and real to anyone who has or has ever had small children.  She is writing my thoughts and making me laugh! She talks about how our kids will not remember that we fed them hot dogs six times in one week, they won't remember that we sometimes bribe them with Berenstain Bears for 30 more minutes so we can finish supper.  They will remember how wildly we love them, how we listen to them when they talk and talk and talk.....we will wipe their tears, we will love them unconditionally!

Who knew that being a mother would be so hard, that it means remembering 10,000 things a day and that I would always worry that my kids are gonna end up in therapy if I mess up along the way! Wow, talk about pressure!!! There are no by the book methods that work, no "perfect" system to go by to ensure that they will turn out well, none of that is enough when it comes to parenting.  It is enough for me to show patience when I really want to cover my ears, hide in the closet and SCREAM at the top of my lungs because I just can't take another tantrum, so I will just have my own! ha  I am realizing that Christ forgives me over and over for the same sins, same mistakes, so it shouldn't be so hard for me to show some mercy to my children the same way.  I want to love like He loves, forgive like He forgives and prepare my children for this big, exciting world.  I know the ONLY way I can do that is to put goodness in because what I put in my heart is what will come out to them!!!  When I have not had my quiet time in the morning to pray and have silence before they begin to "need"  from me all day long, I loose it by the end of the day, I have no energy, no patience and least of all no mercy.  When I put goodness in, I am a better mama for it!!   Go get yourself a copy of this book, you will love it and it will make you laugh.  And let's face it Mama's, we are all in this journey together!!

Grieving....

A couple of blogs ago I wrote about going through a lot of emotions, March was FULL of emotions for me and my family.  On March 12th my Maw Maw passed away suddenly.  I am a huge believer in the Lord working in ways that ONLY HE can do and this was even more evident to me with the passing of Maw Maw.  All three of the kids were out for Spring Break the week of March 14th.  I had planned to head to the farm on Sunday the 13th and stay for a few days but because of some personal issues at home I made the decision to head on over on Friday the 11th.  I loaded the kids up and we drove straight to Brookhaven and spent the afternoon with Maw Maw.  What precious time it was because it was the last time my children would see her.  That night a nurse from the nursing home called my parents house and told me that Maw Maw was not doing well.  I woke my mama up and off we went.

I remember traveling down Hwy 583 at 3:30 in the morning on our way home from the nursing home trying to absorb it.  I felt so lost, for the first time ever I did not have any grandparents.  I can't imagine what Mama must have been thinking knowing she no longer had a parent. :(  I am a lucky enough girl to say that I have some close enough friends that I can call or text at 3:30 in the morning and it is completely okay.  I reached out to a couple of them and tried to catch some sleep.  I knew the next few days were going to be so long and hard.

Mama and I had to go buy something to bury her in the next day and that in itself was very emotional.  Mama was an only child and I knew that I needed to be around for all of this.  When we met with the Harrigill's at the funeral home (who happen to be great friends and employers to my Maw Maw) Mr. Don asked if one of the grandkids wanted to speak at the service.  Immediately I said "no" but as the day passed I realized that one of us should.  We were her only grandkids, her only family left and someone should pay honor to her life.  I am proud to say that I was able to do that for her.  I can't say how I did but I did it!! And I was honored to do it, she as a sweet, sweet little woman who always called me "hun".  I miss her.  I love you Maw Maw.

The world keeps turning....

I have been trying to figure out if I should try to back track the last month and blog about the crazy things my kids have said or done or just go forward and the verdict is.....go forward.  I can assure you all that they are both still VERY demanding of my time ALL day long, Arden is still insisting that she will not be tamed, she STILL eats like a cave man, with her fingers, with her cute little princess spoon and fork lying next to her plate untouched.  She has learned to climb out of her crib and before you go judging me, I KNOW it is time for a big girl bed and as soon as I get time I am gonna get her a twin bed.  So maybe when she is 12 she will be out of the crib but maybe she won't! :)  Stay tuned.......

Do Bad Habits Die Hard?

I haven't blogged much this month at all.  It has been a VERY emotional month for me.  So I have put off blogging because I have been "sorting" through emotions and I have realized that the longer I have put off the blogging the harder it has become to sit down and do it. Just like all other things in life, we start something then we let a lot of time pass and we never get back around to it.  Somewhat like when you put off writing a thank you card for so long, which reminds me I have two to write myself,  that you then become embarrassed to write it at all.  As if gratitude has an expiration date!!  This same bad habit thing happens to often and I for one intend to squash it! I have a LOT of things I am excited to blog about and will get to them in the next few days and I have some sad things to blog about that I am still happy to be able to share on here, even if I only have 28 followers and am not sure if all 28 really read.  If you are reading my blogs, please leave me a comment, they make me smile always!! I love knowing that people are boring themselves with my life! :) More to come!! Thank you friends for joining me on this sometimes redundant journey! :)  I do love you all!
